The Discount That Changed Everything: Finding Purpose in Everyday Moments

The Discount That Changed Everything

I'm blessed. I actually understand the purpose of my being as a human. I know this is true. I actually remember. Because of this awareness, I can now treat everything that comes to me as a blessing.

A Small Story with a Big Lesson

Yesterday, something unexpected happened that perfectly illustrated this shift in my perspective. I saw that a store (SHC) was having a discount sale.
In my old way of thinking, I would have dismissed it entirely:
"Discounts are just gimmicks. You're trading your time and mental energy for marginal savings. You'd be better off spending those resources on meaningful business growth."
But now? I see it completely differently.

An Opportunity to Express Who I Am

This discount wasn't just about saving money—it was an opportunity for me to express my beingness. I'm a good family man. A good husband and a good father of two daughters. How could I not seize this opportunity?
I immediately called my wife to discuss what we should buy to take advantage of the discount. But here's what I really gained:
An opportunity to communicate—to connect with my wife through discussion and collaboration.
An opportunity to share the happiness—the joy we felt when we finally accomplished our worthy purchase together.
An opportunity to celebrate—the satisfaction of our successful decision-making as a family.
When you truly understand your purpose, even the smallest moments become opportunities to live out who you are.

What Really Matters

I love my wife. I love my family. I love God. All at once. This simple realization makes me so happy.
The discount itself? Almost irrelevant. What matters is that I used that moment to strengthen my connection with my wife, to practice being the husband and father I choose to be, to express love through action.
This is what it means to be awake—to see opportunities for expressing your true self everywhere, even in something as mundane as a store discount.

When you know who you are, every moment becomes a chance to be that person.
